Orthodontics
At Wier Dentistry we offer Orthodontics for all ages.
Our braces are customized for each individual patient, as opposed to the typical "stock" braces found in many offices. In this way we can straighten teeth more quickly and efficiently, while also obtaining optimal results.
There are several different types of braces. The Traditional Braces, Ceramic Braces, and Invisalign.
Traditional Braces
Traditional braces are Silver-colored metal braces are the most common type of dental braces used in orthodontics.
With traditional braces, silver brackets are bonded to the front of your teeth. Metal or elastic bands are tied around brackets to hold the orthodontic wire in place. The wire is what actually causes the teeth to move, with the bracket serving as an anchor on each tooth. During your orthodontic treatment, the wires will be changed out to straighten teeth to your desired result. These traditional braces also have bands that go around your molars in the back of your mouth. These bands have a wire that slide into a tube that provides extra support for tooth movement.
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are the same size and shape as metal braces, except that they have tooth-colored or clear brackets that blend into teeth. The ceramic braces work the same as the traditional braces. They do cost a little more than the traditional braces, but they are also less noticeable for the time you wear them.
Invisalign
Invisalign are clear plastic aligners that are removable. The aligners are almost invisible and are replaced every two weeks. Invisalign will not work for serious dental problems. Invisalign are only available for adults and teens not children. They are a more expensive option and can be easily lost and costly to replace. Treatment may potentially take longer than traditional or ceramic braces.
